Privacy Policy

Last updated 8 September 2026

Komunti is operated by Komu Inc., a United States company, which is responsible for the personal data described here. This policy covers what Komunti collects, why it collects it, who else sees it, and what you can do about it.

Account information

When you sign up we store your email address, and either a password we never see in readable form or the fact that you signed in with Google or Apple. Your profile holds only what you fill in: a display name, a short bio, an avatar image, a city, your interface language and your time zone.

What you create

We store what you post so that the product can show it: posts, comments, reactions, chat messages, event responses, course progress and points. Inside a private community, this is visible to that community's members and its creator, and not to the public.

City and the member map

A city is optional. It is only shown to other members on the community map when you turn city sharing on, and sharing is off until you do. We store a city, never a precise position, and we do not track your device's location.

Payments

Card details go from your browser straight to Stripe, our payment processor. They never reach Komunti's servers and we never store a card number. What we keep is the record of the transaction: amounts, dates, currency, invoice documents, and the references Stripe gives us. At checkout your IP address is sent to Stripe so it can work out which tax rules apply; we keep only which kind of evidence was used, not the address itself.

Creator verification

If you receive payouts, Stripe, our payments provider, collects the identity documents and bank details the law requires it to collect, directly from you. Komunti does not see or store them; we see only whether your account is verified and able to receive money.

Cookies

Komunti sets a cookie to keep you signed in and a cookie remembering the interface language you chose. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking pixels. Usage and performance measurement runs on Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which set no cookies and count page views and load times in aggregate without identifying you; error monitoring sets no cookies either. The lesson video player's playback analytics (Mux Data) may store an anonymous viewer identifier in your browser to measure streaming quality.

Diagnostics and errors

We use Sentry, an error-monitoring service, to find and fix crashes. It receives technical information about a failure — the page, the browser, the request that failed and the code path it broke on — which can incidentally include an identifier for the signed-in account. It is used to keep the product working and for nothing else.

Email and notifications

We send transactional email through Resend, our email delivery provider: sign-in links, receipts, failed-payment warnings, and the notifications you have chosen to receive. Mobile push notifications, if you enable them, are delivered through Apple's and Google's push services and require storing a device token.

Who else sees your data

We share what is necessary with the providers that make the product work: Vercel (hosting, plus cookieless usage and performance measurement), Supabase (database, file storage and sign-in), Stripe (payments, and Stripe Connect for creator payouts), Resend (email delivery), Sentry (error monitoring), Mux (video hosting and streaming, including Mux Data playback analytics), Cloudflare Turnstile (bot protection on sign-in and sign-up forms), and Google and Apple (sign-in, only if you choose it, and mobile push delivery). Each receives only what its job needs. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account exists. Invoices and other billing records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and they are deliberately unalterable — neither you nor we can edit or delete an invoice once it has been issued.

Your choices

You can edit or clear your profile fields, turn city sharing off, close your direct-message inbox, and turn notification channels off, at any time, from your own settings. You can delete your account yourself from your profile settings; deletion removes your profile and content, apart from the billing records described above, which we are required to keep. To ask for a copy of your data, write to support@komunti.com.

Children

Komunti is not intended for children. Do not create an account if you are under the minimum age at which you can agree to these terms where you live, and never below thirteen. If we learn that an account belongs to a child, we close it.
